Third Wheel World Tour 1999

I had to stay at a friend's place this year
and when I packed
I remembered my plane tickets
and forgot my gloves

I remembered the plane tickets
even though I wouldn't need them anymore
because a few days after I made the reservation
you fell in love
with some guy named Carmine
and decided a visit
from me
wouldn't be such a good idea anymore

I'm glad you found somebody to hold you now
That used to be me
until you moved south
and I moved north
and "we" became
seperate pronouns again.
Just a memory of an echo of a touch.

Maybe it was dumb of us to think
that my week's vacation
could relive our past
But I was looking forward
to waking up to the sunshine
with you next to me.

But I packed the ticket
that I couldn't use
and I forgot my gloves
which is a shame
because Boston is cold this time of year.
